How to Find the Best Car Seat Protector

Car seat protectors help you to maintain and keep your car upholstery clean. They’re necessary for protecting your seats from getting damaged especially if you have kids and/or pets. Before looking at some of the best car seat protectors, let’s first look at how to buy the best ones.

Here are some of the factors you should consider when in the market for the best car seat protector:

Safety

This is an unquestionable necessity especially when it comes to kids. Car accidents cause a shocking number of injuries and deaths to the little ones. That’s why it’s highly important to ensure your young one is seated in a proper car seat. You must install the seat correctly and buckle him or her appropriately. Of course, the other thing you need to do is search for safer car seat products like a protector for your kid.

Quality

You don’t want to spend your hard-earned money on a poor quality item. Low-quality car seat protectors are less likely to perform well. They need replacement long before the high-quality protectors wear out. High-quality protectors are long-lasting. That is for sure. They’ll not only protect your seat but also give you value for money.

Cost

Just like when purchasing any other product, the cost is an important factor to consider. Different seat protectors cost different prices. You should choose one that you’re comfortable with in terms of budget.

Design

You should settle for a seat cover with an outstanding design. Great designs not only play a huge role in the functionality of a product, they also play a role in its appearance thus affecting your purchasing decision.

You must choose a protector that functions well. It should protect the seat from any form of damage while at the same making it looks good.

Value

The last thing you want to do is sacrifice quality for the price. You shouldn’t choose the cheapest option. Often, the cheapest ones have the lowest value. This is because they aren’t made of high-quality designs and materials. Settle for car seat protectors that’s worth its price tag.

VW Polo and Vento IPL Edition II variants finally hit showrooms

VW Polo and Vento IPL Edition II variants finally hit showrooms

Volkswagen’s Indian arm has given the masses a chance to ride around in German-designed cars. Cashing in on the country’s fascination with cricket and the Indian Premier League, the company had earlier released IPL editions of its Polo and Vento models. Now, with season 5 of the IPL just around the corner, the Germany automaker is set to release new IPL editions of the same variants.

Fans of the two cars will be pleased to know that the special editions will sell for the same price as the regular variants despite being fitted with additional equipment. There have been no tweaks on the engines and performance but buyers can expect to find the IPL Edition II of both cars packed with a multimedia entertainment system that features social networking and navigation options, IPL branding on the boots, dual tone leatherette coverings for the seats, special floor mats and a new door sill design.
The two IPL Edition II cars will go on exhibition from March 15th in showrooms. Incidentally, the Indian Premier League begins on April 1st. Volkswagen’s new line-up is similar to that of the IPL editions of last year which coincided with Season 4 of the league. The roll-out received pretty good responses from buyers and the company has decided to cash in on the cricket craze this year as well. Potential buyers can begin shelling out the cash by April when the two variants go on sale.

The regular Polo and Vento models have seen quite a bit of success in India with the 5th generation hatchback in particular racking up points for its big car ride-like quality, fuel efficiency and solid build. Reviews have shown that it is sturdier than the likes of the Swift and i10 which is especially important given the rough roads common in India.

Tata’s concept eco: All you need to know

Believe it or not, but TATA has proved that the human mind can bring alive the most refreshing innovations in the form of cars. Due to the introduction of cars like Nano and Indica, TATA has been a famous name in the world of small cars. These cars are known for their smooth handling and comfortable interior spacing. Last year, Pixel was being introduced by TATA and it gained an overwhelming popularity among the car lovers for its unique features like the scissor shaped doors and the zero turn driving system. This time, it has introduced another beauty named Megapixel and the first look at the vehicle would make the viewers glued to its creative design.

The machine:

TATA Megapixel is an addition in the list of vehicles that don the REEV (Range-extended electric vehicles) concept. The cars built on this concept are so designed that they can run on battery for a specific duration and after that, the diesel (or even petrol) generator provided in the car recharges the battery so that the car goes on for long distances. It has a Lithium-ion phosphate battery (13 KwH) and also a petrol engine generator which is responsible for recharging the battery when you would plan a long drive. The petrol engine that is capable of producing a power of 25 Kw is a 325 cc single cylinder engine and this is the asset that provides a favorable value to the fuel economy of the car. This enables the range of this car to be extended to a commendable limit of 900 kilometers. If you are worried about the fuel economy, don’t be. It’s TATA after all. With a fuel economy of 100 kmpl, this car serves as the perfect option for your needs of a fuel efficient car.

When depend on the electric power of the car, you need not be concerned about the capacity to which this compact beauty can drive because it entails in itself four electric motors. These independent electric motors are capable of producing a power of 10Kw of power. With the torque capacity of 500 Nm, Megapixel is sure to impress you with its comfortable handling even at high speeds. (The top speed is expected to be 110 kmph. That is really impressive!)

What’s good?

The most interesting feature embedded in this car is the induction charging system. By virtue of this charging system, Megapixel can be charged by just parking it on the induction pad, without the need of plugging in. This charging system can charge the battery up to a limit of 80% and this charging would be done at a pace that would leave you awe-struck(30 minutes is a time that is worth spending for charging your car). So you need not worry about halts in your journey. Also, it tops the charts when it comes to being an environment friendly car. The reason for this is the limit of Co2 emissions which is a mere 22gms every kilometer. Hence, you won’t be a convict of polluting the environment when you drive Megapixel.

Another exciting feature of the car is its spacious interior. The “zero turn” drive system further adds to the beauty of the handling of the car and it provides a turning radius of 2.8 meters.

What’s not so good?

Well, this is something that would upset you. The only flaw in this car is that it is a concept that is yet to be seen running on the road. Leave aside this aspect; you won’t be able to find any more weak areas in its design and performance. However, some people may find it too compact as its length is just 3.5 meters. But, don’t create an opinion without having a look inside. You are sure to change your opinion after that.

A HMI (Human machine interface) allows you to have a glimpse of the advancement in technology that has made the interaction of humans and machines a reality. The various controls are beautifully embedded in a touch screen system to give them a user friendly touch.

Things to watch out for:

The only thing you need to watch out for is the date on which it would be seen in showrooms. Keep waiting, and your patience would find its true worth, for sure.

Price and Availability:

There are not much details available related to the price at which this vehicle would be available in the market. Also, its availability period cannot be judged because of shortage of information regarding it.

Flying RC DeLorean: Inspired by movie ‘Back to the future’

Right from schooling kids to elders, everybody would love to play with RC toys. Readers who have witnessed the movie, “Back to the Future”, would have admired Doc Brown’s DeLorean car, definitely. To everybody’s surprise, a Quadrotor toy with similar design has been created and flown, which is evident from the footage below. To be precise, this RC toy resembles Doc Brown’s DeLorean car and it flies exactly in the same way as portrayed in the movie. However, there are certain noticeable differences which are highly essential to keep this machine airborne.

The footage showcases the stupefying design along with a short slideshow about the making of this RC plane. It clearly depicts the use of simple materials and the uncomplicated creation process; however, this machine’s successful flight over the icy land, delights the viewers with its real flying capacity. A base platform holds four propellers on the ends, where one could visualize a traditional car’s wheels. These propellers are powered by Turnigy 2204-14T motors and monitored by a speed controller. However, the propeller section seems to be static with respect to its horizontal axis. Literally, these propellers won’t tilt to the wheel’s position, in contrast to the car that is portrayed in the original movie. Inclusion of a MultiWii control takes responsibility for the Quadrotor’s stability.

The RC toy’s upper body seems to be made from lightweight materials that takes position above the base platform. As the propellers are built to face the upper body, the bottom side of integrated propeller sections are rightly utilized for landing the vehicle safely. As there are four contact points for a car generally, forces during take off and landing could be rightly shared among them. The released footage shows the propeller sections with glossy blue lights, which attracts attention at the first glimpse itself. This RC plane would have invigorated us further, if it could take us back to the future.

Hotrod built around a GMC 6-71 blower kit is a bare-naked beauty

Connecticut-based custom car maker Andrew Murray is a man of great aesthetic sensibilities as well as natural instinct for creating awesome hotrods. He is a regular at Bonneville and the man is all set for the salt flats once again with his latest creation. Dunned The Coupe, the vehicle is a genuine work of art and the most remarkable thing about its construction is the fact that it was constructed entirely around a $200 GMC 6-71 blower kit Murray purchased off eBay. A true labor of love, a major part of the components on the vehicle were handcrafted and hand formed by Murray himself who used inspiration from many of his own previous works as well as a handful of classic designs to create the bodywork for what can only be dubbed one of the most unique hotrods we have ever seen.

Generally found at the front of the Chevrolet V8, the blower was re-timed and reclearanced by Murray who also accommodated crankshaft (direct) drive on the vehicle by reversing the vehicle’s impeller rotation. With 3.90:1 gears, a limited-slip differential from Torsen sits inside the vehicle’s powertrain with lateral location being facilitated by a custom Watt’s linkage and a torque arm. A Northeast Asphalt Modified–style set up is chosen for the rear suspension.

A Trans-Am engine-sourced Kryptonite crank and a World Products block form the basis of the 302ci Chevy engine and a hybrid Hilborn/ACCEL EFI fuel injection setup was used alongside by a custom-made direct-drive blower system. On both ends, beam axles come fitted with a 114-inch wheelbase11/2-inch chrome-moly tubing on semi-space frame minimalist chassis.

Since Murray knew right from the start that he wanted the vehicle to race at Bonneville, he ensured that the vehicle was fully SCTA safety regulations complaint. A dozen or so significant historic designs have had their influence on the hand formed bodywork which has starkly and intentionally been left bare with unfinished aluminum showing off its colors and textures. In keeping with Murray’s legendary style, no hint of paint was applied to the interior or exterior panels.

The vehicle boasts of a retro-futuristic dashboard with mid-’60s Chrysler gauge movements, Shroeder Sprint Car-sourced steering wheel, Kirkey-sourced seats, front wheels sourced from Ron Blondell and ’59 Fike Bros Plumbing Sprint Car-sourced Halibrand rear wheels make up the goodies on the custom hotrod. Ready for road, track, dirt, and salt, The Coupe is all set to be one of the stars at custom hotrod events across the U.S. in the year ahead.

Vintage Jaguar gets turned into an interesting storage unit

Recycling seems to have taken on the world in a big way. With no space left for anything, the only option is to reuse. This has turned out well in more ways than one, offering creative people an outlet for their talent. But individuals aren’t the only ones getting into the game with design studios like Denieuwegeneratie, a Dutch-based firm, also doing the same. The studio recently constructed a new underground office called Dutch Mountain that blends into its surroundings. As part of their designing efforts, the studio decided to convert a vintage Jaguar car into a tall bookshelf.

The result is a quirky piece of work that sees the car standing vertically. To enable it to act as storage space and reduce its weight, the designers removed the engine and cut out most of the roof. They installed shelves for books and other items as well as converting the trunk into a cabinet with two door panels. While the entire concept may seem a little out of place, it’s a great way to give this vintage Jaguar a new lease of life.

The vintage car bookshelf goes well with Denieuwegeneratie’s design theme. As it is, the architecture of the building seems eager to make as little impact on the environment as possible. The office sits beneath an artificial mound of earth that acts as insulation for the interiors. The south façade of the building is left open and is framed by glass and timber. This helps sunlight enter during the cold months reducing the load on heating equipment.

The retro car bookshelf has received compliments from bloggers on the internet for its innovative design. And while it does look a tad showy, we love the fact that the designers decided to use something of the owner’s to personalize the space.
