Compressed Natural Gas, or CNG hasn’t really caught on as a fuel in the USA despite being a low emission, high performance fuel. CNG conversion company AFVTech has a business converting regular cars to CNG powered ones, and the company is now working on building a showcase model, a roadster with a V8 engine and 600hp to command to show the possibilities.
A 1933 Ford Roadster hot rod is being used for the purpose, and will be powered by a modified 7.0-liter LS7 V8 from Chevrolet Corvette Z06. This engine will have a huge output of 600hp, and will be mated to a six-speed transmission. The car will also get drive-by-wire engine management system, ABS brakes, and selectable traction control. It is scheduled to make its debut at the AFVI alternative-fuel trade show in Las Vegas in May 2010.
