It sounds like hot news for the automotive world, but from the turn out of things this is surely not. Maybach has announced increased prices on its 2008 lineup. The brand with its previous records seems like a liability for Daimler, a liability that the company is looking to shed off any time now.
Now the Maybach 57 2008 will be coming with a price tag of $341,750 including shipping, which is $3500 more than its 2007 model. The Maybach 62 S starts at $432,250 which including shipping charges also registers a $3,500 increase in price.
Does this new pricing strategy mean that Maybach has some long terms plans for its future? Well if there are some, it should be fast because the clock is ticking. The new pricing has placed Maybach at a plot siding with the Rolls-Royce Phantom sedan.
Phantom comes with a price tag of $342000 which includes $2000 shipping charges.
Six years back when it first appeared on the US car scene, it set an initial sales target of around 600 units for a year, but with a disappointing sales figure every year things never seem easy for Maybach. Maybach has remained an underperformer for long, and speculations are rife that it will soon be absorbed by Mercedes-Benz.
