Nissan has jumped into the compact-SUV fray with the all-new Rogue. The Japanese Automaker has announced that the newcomer will come along with a price tag of less than $20,000. The Crossover is all set to go on sales in just a couple of days, ready for a tough rivalry with the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.
The all-new Nissan Rogue comes with an intuitive all-wheel drive system that adjusts to changing road conditions, in one tenth of a second, by automatically recognizing the difference between cruising or cornering, dry roads or wet roads. This advanced system attains an amazing balance between control and fuel efficiency. Under the hood there’s a 170-hp, 2.5-liter engine which drips a whole lot of power.
The 2008 Nissan Rogue is jeweled with add-in ‘quick response paddle shifters’ attached to the only standard CVT in its class. Formula One inspired steering wheel mounted paddle shifters offer the quickest way to manually find the right rpm in and out of a hairpin turn.
The Rogue endows a lot of technology features like Intelligent Key, Bluetooth Hands free Phone System, satellite radio and a powerful Bose-developed audio system with AUX input and MP3 playback. The available wireless system connects instantly with a touch of a button.
Form outside; the Rogue features aggressive lines and optional sculpted xenon headlights. The interiors offer a driver-focused cockpit and spacious covered storage like the rear foldable cargo organizer.
The 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels, roof rails, dual body-color power outside mirrors, 6-way manual adjustable driver’s seat, rear privacy glass and polished stainless steel exhaust tip makes the SL model look more distinctive.
Rogue also offers a long list of standard safety features, including front seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags and roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags for front and rear outboard occupants.
It’s good to see new automakers taking on the onus of developing products for the segments which they do not belong to. Nissan as it is has developed great in-car systems off late which has helped the automaker create a better brand name for itself thus we could expect improved sales for the Rogue but we shouldn’t forget the stiff competition it would have to face from its contemporaries, a snapshot of which is give below.
