He begins by saying that we already have such fuel-efficient cars, and technology to produce them. However, due to our fixation on accessories, we have made these cars less efficient.



6 Crazy Weight-Saving Measures To Improve Mileage:



Cup Holders: The combined weight of all Cup Holders weight about eight pounds. If you do away with such, then you will probably gain half a mile per gallon.



Bumpers: More than preventing us during car crashes, it usually cave in and contribute to the damage in addition to making the car heavier.



Doors: Doors add extra weight so eliminate all except just one and sacrifice the unpleasant jumble for seats for a greater mileage.



Frames and bodies of cars
: Still are made of metal, they add unnecessary weight. The solution is to make it with paper mache or some sort of light plastic. Worried about crashing, the biggest solution is not to crash at all.



Engine: 75 percent of the power is spent on goes moving around the engines-make it weigh less than 50 pounds, 85 percent of their power would go to moving the car. It should be made of light materials like cardboard of aluminum foil. Only the insides of an engine need be sturdy and heat resistant, which can be fixed with ceramics or something.



Passengers: Do away with unnecessary passengers-leave kids at home. Build a car for two slim down to weigh 150pounds for men and 90 pounds for woman.
