Looks like old VW vehicles have a way with getting modified and powerful. Just a few days ago we saw the quicker-than-a-Veyron 1979 Golf, and now it’s a crazy fast 1953 Volkswagen Transporter. It isn’t the most aerodynamic thing on wheels around, but a whole lot of modifications and a highly tuned 2.8-liter Volkswagen motor churning out 253hp and 243 lb-ft of torque does the magic for the Transporter.
Despite all the modifications, the Transporter has retained its stock body. Probably the fastest Transporter around, it can cover a quarter-mile in just 12.65 seconds. Looking at this thing’s times, we can’t help but agree with our friends at Autopia when they say “Count your blessings this thing isn’t running around your town, because the embarrassment of being shut down by a ‘53 VW van might be too much to bear.”
