When I was 17 I could barely make tea...Advancement or the So called modernization has taken its toll on us and has made us prone to highly comfortable circumstances making our lives monotonous ...This is where our predecessors excelled ...difficult circumstances led them to become great visionaries and innovators...We cannot replicate them, but we can certainly bequeath them with a high-degree of Deserved Respect
This story dates back to 1930; Bob Shotwell was 17 and he was about to graduate from High School. He demanded a car from his father, whose negative yet spirit provoking reply made Bob setout to build a car on his own. Bob cadged parts and built his own car, which was a three-wheeled coupe powered by a 77.2-cu.-in. four-cylinder 1931 Indian motorcycle engine.
Bob dubbed it Philbert the Puddle Jumper. That was not just it for Bob, so he set out on a 6000-mile spree with His Brother Edward. This feat made headlines in local newspapers in the Northwest. This stunning spree did not end up at 6,000 miles, it eventually continued lest it covered 150,000 miles.
At the age of 82 Bob had the fear of his car being torn-apart by motorcycle guys , for its Indian engine .Thus , he chose a guy to procure it, a contemporary of his trade though not his generation, our beloved Jay Leno .
Bob died at the age of 91, in Minnesota, but not before he saw his darling coupe being tuned by Jay the perfectionist, in a manner He loved ... Bob may not be with us today but it is our Duty to ascertain that he lives amongst all we car fanatics through His Philbert the Puddle Jumper ...
