Bentley boss Franz-Josef Paefgen may say that the marque has no intentions of powering its cars with a diesel motor, but Volkswagen group chairman Martin Winterkorn may have other ideas. In a recent interview, he said that Bentley will keep up with the market dynamics and there could be six-cylinder twin turbocharged diesel in a Bentley.
Winkterkorn was apparently referring to the 3.0-l V6 common rail engine being developed by Audi. This engine will likely deliver about 300bhp of power and 440 lb-ft of torque when it debuts in the next-gen A8 next year. With the growing popularity of diesel, we’re inclined more to agree with Winkterkorn than with Paefgen.
