Nissan Motor Co. has revealed an innovative design concept in the shape of NV200 small van. The NV200 was jointly developed by Nissan Design Center in Japan and Nissan Design Europe.
Considering that most van users use their vehicles as a mobile office, the design is somewhat ‘office friendly’. The NV200 features a storage pod, which extends from the van’s load area when the vehicle is parked. With the deployment of the pod, the load bay takes the form of a mobile office. The front passenger seat can now rotate backwards to face a drop down desk.
Storage areas are also available in the pod. The storage areas currently have a ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ designation, keeping in view the needs of professional underwater photographers. Though this design caters to underwater photographers, the concept can be tailored to suit different customers.
The team had no pre-conceived ideas on what form the design must take on completion, perhaps this allowed them to create a vehicle that is radical, futuristic and practical (though two small driving lights on its roof do look somewhat queer.)
The NV200 will debut in the Tokyo Motor Show in October. Let’s see if it makes any waves there.
