Electric cars, though have long been eco friendly, well atleast as an end product, they were never really known for their performance or for that matter their ability to traverse a long range in a single charge. Most often than not, in an electric vehicle, it either meant sacrificing range for performance or vice versa. But, all that is set to change with the Lumeneo Smera. This French-made electric vehicle that looks straight out of a Hollywood Sci-Fi flick aims for you to have your cake and eat it too.
This radical electric car aims to give you a relatively, for electric cars though, high range at 93 miles for a single charge and still manage to scorch the traffic light grand prix’s with its amazing, again for an electric car, nought to sixty in 8 seconds. If that is not enough, the Smera tops out at 80MPH. Looking at what the Smera has got in it to make those figures possible, you will find two rear driven brushless electric motors directly driving each rear wheel of the Smera. No gears or power sapping differentials. The motors are powered by a 144 volt rechargable lithium battery which gives the Lumeneo it’s amazingly long range.
These brushless electric motors pump out 20 horses each and if you were just wondering how just forty horses can deliver those figures, here comes the catch. The Lumeneo can just seat two adults in it, and that one behind the other, just like a motorcycle. And the motorcycle connection just doesn’t end there. To keep you planted on four wheels, the Lumeneo even tilts like a motorcycle. Don’t worry just as yet, you do have a roof over you and all the features found in a conventional car. Though the very narrow and light Lumeneo cannot seat four people, it looks like a very handy machine to get across the traffic infested urban maelstrom.
