All steam engine fans who just loved the whooshing steam engines roaring across the countryside in their heyday, you might just see one more of their ilk, this time right in your neighbourhood roads, but for a change, in a motorcycle. Yes, that is what the automobile engineer, Tom Sepe’s latest Steampunk motorcycle does.
The innovative, very retro, Steampunk mates the ancient steam technology with the very happening eco friendly electric technology to propel this concept forward. And if you think steam drives this retro machine, no it doesn’t. The steam is merely to add that very-retro touch with a leaky propane powered steam boiler which is not connected in any way to the wheel. All the steam boiler does is, it pumps out steam as Tom putters around town on his Steampunk.

A fifteen horsepower electric motor running on batteries powers the Steampunk ahead. A stretched wooden body furthers the retro look and it is under one of these wood panels that the batteries sit. Though the steampunk doesn’t really do real freeway speeds, being the automobile engineer that he is, Tom has bolted on a self designed braking system which surprisingly features a disc brake at the rear wheel of the Steampunk.

In all, the Steampunk is one very nice retro concept for steam afficionados to drool over and Tom, for sure will be getting his share of startled looks by fellow road users when he takes the Steampunk for a spin.
