With ever pressing time limits on business, and the lack of any specific, high speed airplane to function as a business jet, Aerion Corporation is seeing an opportunity with a supersonic business jet. The company is already taking deposits for its 8-seater, and 12-seater business jets which it claims will be able to fly at a speed of 1.5 Mach.
Current economic trouble has slowed down the development of the business jet, but Aerion remains confident of being able to have the airplane certified by 2015. Recent wind-tunnel tests carried out by the company have been positive, showing a wing design that would be efficient at all speeds, whether above, or below the speed of sound. Aerion already has nearly 50 deposits for its supersonic plane.
