Raven motors almost went bankrupt with their previous offering, the electricity powered Sparrow. Now, after nearly eight long years, they are planning to make one more big foray into the urban commuting sphere with the Raven. The Raven is a very unusual urban vehicle that runs on three wheels. It’s appearance is more like a car whose rear wheel has just fallen off. The Raven’s front end looks more like an old Morgan or a Buick and it’s asymmetric rear looks like a, well, Raven. Yes, that is because we haven’t seen anything like this ever before.
Powered by a 3 cylinder gasoline mill, the Raven goes up to 70 miles per gallon, which is remarkable in these days of $100/gallon oil prices. A weird door which opens up skyward like scissor doors is how you will get into this single seat machine. Apart from you being able to squeeze through tiny gaps in the city traffic, tax breaks and lower insurance are other advantages of the Raven because the federal law considers it as a motorcycle. However, it is much safer than a motorcycle courtesy it’s 3 wheels and airbags. All said and done, be prepared to look like a nutcase driving around town in one of these and to look like a nutcase, you need to shell out $12000 when the Raven goes on sale this winter. Enjoy more pics of the Raven after the jump.
