Alberto Cruz Gomez has come up with a solution of tackling the mounting problem of car accidents, which are taking its toil especially in the arena of metropolitans. UNO is the name given by him for the (conceptual) vehicle; it utilizes a hybrid system with hydrogen propulsion cells and independent electrical engines on each one of its two wheels.

His similar yet another concept is also worth mentioning here, he has christened it as ARUZ. It is not only an urban car, but also is a new way of enjoying the pleasure of driving. The control and direction uses a preset computer route system, providing the freedom to engage in different other activities while getting to your final destination, all assisted by the control system located in the driving wheel. Cool enough, ain’t it?

Hey it’s not finished yet, more coming up, after a slight jump.

4. If you had to point to the most impressive feature about your concepts what would it be?

Alberto: Simple - functional and constant lines. All my vehicles have a line of beginning and of end. I always look for aesthetics as well as functionality all my designs.

5. You have received awards like Design Biennial Mexico (2005), Interior Motives Awards (2006), Michelin Challenge Design (2007) to name a few, how has recognition like these benefited your career so far?

Alberto: They have helped me to know several types of design, it has allowed me to be able to put to test my skills and it is a motivation to continue forward to be able to show my work and of what I can be capable for the solution of problems.

With these contests I would like to show that Mexican designs have the aptitude to generate ideas that are in benefit of a better world.

6. Designing is all about creativity so we cannot say that the genre follows a particular trend, how far am I correct in holding such an assertion?

Alberto: I believe that designs can have several trends but there is one that I think every designer must devote themselves to and that is design sustainable. This would not only improve our environment but can also offer different creative solutions to every problem.

7. What is innovation to you - design, technology or the creative processes itself?

Alberto: For me, creative process is the first step for innovation, then the design and finally technology.

8. What can we expect to see in future with respect to your concepts?

Alberto: I will search for the new technological applications in vehicles before any other designer sews comfort of the users. And very soon I will be designing air, maritime vehicles and intelligent systems for terrestrial navigation.

9. Any idea or message you’d like to leave that every person must remember about this interview?

Alberto: Remember, one can attain anything with effort, hard work and motivation.

Charles Eames’s phrase has inspired me very much inside my professional development,

“The details ploughs not the details. They make the design.”

And another from Ludwing Mies van der Rohe

“To chair is to very difficult object. To skyscraper is almost easier. That is why Chippendale is famous “.

10. Finally, we would like to have your thoughts on automotto.org?

Alberto: A platform where you can express your ideas, see concepts and know different news and events that happen in the world, it´s cool.
