We would all have different opinions to this but the fact is that GM has decided to use the Alpha RWD technology on Chevrolet models instead of the earlier specified Pontiac G8.
If this is to be believed then how does Mr. Lutz stake his claim to make Pontiac everymans’ BMW? Guess there are lot of questions to be answered after this discreet decision of GM to do so. They are trying to create a brand but then taking away something from it that needs to be an essential part of that moniker, without which Pontiac will stay where it stands today.
Malibu’s recent success had started spreading the word that Chevrolet was more keen on developing family oriented cars, combine this latest revelation from GM to this short-lived belief and what do you make out of the entire situation.
A company that is as confused as its pummelling sales graph, a company that is not certain about any future success and thus can’t bank on a low-profile ally to redeem its fate and all that it does is make fake promises just as a stop-gap act to ensure that there are sturdier plans on the table.
The criticism just doesn’t end here for take into consideration GM’s European plans and we hear that this RWD platform will fortify the Cadillac brand, enabling it to compete better in the domain better known as the German stronghold.
Tell you what Mr. Lutz, if this awry planning continues you won’t even appear second on the largest automakers list, forget giving Toyota a run for its money.
