Aptera’s airplane-like electric vehicle has been in the news for a long time. While we wait for the 160mpg car to finally reach the roads, the company has decided to revisit the design with the belt-driven single rear wheel drive going out to make way for power to the two front wheels. Aptera calls its updated design the 2e.
Changing to front wheel drive provides better weight distribution, and more stability, traction, efficiency, durability, noise insulation and cargo space. This appears to be exactly what the doctor recommended. The car is expected to debut next year, with availability restricted only to California for a start.
