The “Artists Taking the Lead” program invited artists to submit proposals for art projects that would be displayed and featured at the 2012 London Olympics. One of the proposals for the program is the Bus-Tops. The idea of designers Alfie Dennen and Paula Le Dieu, the Bus-Tops has 40 monochromatic LED screens and will be placed atop bus stops in London.
The goal is to infuse shared inspiration and creative expression amongst the people. Artists, designers and other people will be encouraged to upload images, videos, text or other such options to these screens; the content can also be viewed through the web or mobile phone. This reminds me of MIT’s Eye-Stop, only it’s a bit less cool than the high-tech bus stop concept of the future. You can read the proposal on Google Docs here.
