The A1 Metroproject Quattro Concept that Audi revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show, could be heading stateside. The concept is supposed to be the first design study of the soon to be launched Audi A1.
Rupert Stadler, Audi’s CEO said:
There is absolutely a potential for that kind of vehicle in America. With the A3, we have demonstrated that we can develop a new segment.
Conventionally, Americans have viewed small cars as cheap and there weren’t many buyers. But with a perceptible change in attitude, and the success of Mini and Smart ForTwo, there are reasons to believe that the A1 could rake up good sales. A1 is likely to go into production in 2009 and it is very likely that the car will make it to US shores.
