The Audi R8 apparently possesses the genes of a perfect sports car and that has given it the honor of being the car to lead all the racing demons on the warm up lap and be the safety car for the ever-popular DTM touring car championship. Having also served in the same capacity for the recently-concluded 24 Hours of Le Mans, the car seems to be perfectly cut out for the job and it makes for the right vehicle to keep the race safe and steady through all those crashes in the future.
Watching the safety car period might be the most boring and unwanted part of the racing event, but it is highly important and makes sure that the race is free from any after-crash incidents due to the debris. While may of us feel that these cars are slow as they are leading out cars ready to tango on track, one must remember that they need to be pretty quick and are slowly only relative to the racing engines!

The pair of R8 support vehicles made its debut at the Norisring Speed Weekend yesterday, where Mercedes-Benz beat out the new Audi A4 DTM with a 1-2 finish. The two Audi R8 cars were prepared specifically for use as safety cars by quattro GmbH at the Neckarsulm plant. That really is good for the loads of Audi fans including myself and some more history made by the car!

Well I think it is simply one of the most interesting and unique super cars ever produced. Auto Parts Information may be seen on autoblog.com
It may not be a super car if you ask me and that is just my opinion as it really does nothing specifically that would put it in a category that is superlative and special. But it is nice to see which car is leading the lap out on safety car duty. Mclaren seems to always do it for F1.... :)
