diesel r8 could debut at detroit
With a few days left for the Detroit Auto Show, the star of the show has probably leaked on to the net. Audi is likely to bring in a 500bhp R8 to Detroit; to top it all, this will be a diesel powered model making the R8 the first supercar to be diesel powered. A more powerful version of the 418bhp R8 has been on cards since a long time, but speculations pointed towards a V10 petrol engine.

Apparently, now the R8 will get the 6.0-L twin-turbocharged V12 from the Q7. This powerplant produces power at 500bhp with max-torque rated at 738 lb-ft. This powerhouse, coupled with Bluetec technology, will make the diesel R8 compliant with Euro V emission standards. Zero to 60mph dash is expected to take just 4 seconds.
