Audi has big plans for the TT, and the model is about to get more power. Auto Express says the 269bhp TTS unveiled at Detroit is a stepping stone on the way to a faster and more powerful version, the TTRS. Earlier speculations said that such a model could get power from the 4.2-L V8 from the R8, but now, the needle is pointing towards a new 350bhp 2.5-L five cylinder turbo engine.

Power will be transmitted to all wheels of the coupe by a six-speed manual gearbox or DSG paddleshift. A zero to 60mph time of less than five seconds and a top speed of 155mph can be expected from the car. If Audi goes ahead with this model, it is likely to reach showrooms in the summer of 2009, a year after the TTS(pictured).
