Audi’s drop-top SUV, the stunning Cross Cabriolet quattro that was unveiled at the LA Auto Show could move into production soon. We had been expecting Audi to unveil the Q5 at Los Angeles, but instead the carmaker came up with the Cross Cabriolet. Rumblings now say the vehicle may be introduced to the market as a cabriolet version of the Q5.
Brit Steve Lewis, design chief for Audi USA that created the concept says the model may be produced in limited numbers if there is a sufficient demand (nearly 5,000 units). The production model is expected to arrive in showrooms by 2010. Audi is also considering making the concept’s unique Copper Sunrise paint as an option to customers.
