The Emanuele Pirro, Frank Biela and Marco Werner trio did what we never thought possible - participating in a race with a diesel powered car among petrol-powered competitors.
At first sight, others must have labeled them crazy, but their effort was worth every pain - they have made history by being the first to win the 24-hours Le Mans race in a diesel powered car.
Their achievement is noteworth — they led every 380 laps of the La Sarthe circuit in their AudiR10 with better fuel economy compared to the other competitors.
Now, whoever said that diesel engines are slower should be put to shame.
