Slated for an October 11 launch, the new M3 is one eagerly awaited car. The car will make its debut in the Australian International Motor Show and go to showrooms immediately thereafter.

The new M3 develops 309kW at 8,300rpm from a 4.0-litre V8 that promises faster response and additional performance and variable double-VANOS camshaft control. Transmission is six-speed manual. The V8 in this model weighs 15kg less than the V6 that powered the previous models. New M3 produces a maximum torque of 400Nm that is attained at 3,900 rpm.

Acceleration from 0 to 100kmph in the new M3 takes 4.8 seconds, and the vehicle consumes 12.4 litres to cover 100km.

New features standard to the fourth-generation M3 are the V8, Novillo leather upholstery, EDC, MDrive, Sunroof, BMW assist and an entire brigade of accessories and functions.

Price for the M3 Coupe six-speed manual is $157,000 and you will have to shell out $3,800 for 19-inch forged light-alloy wheels and another $1,900 for the High-end audio system.
