It has been quite a while since the rumors regarding the new Hummer H4 are floating. There was a hubbub late last year that the new baby hummer would be ready to make an appearance at the Detroit Auto Show, but according to the sources developers didn’t seem to have found any suitable platform to base the new model.
Anyway all the tittle-tattle has been muted by non other than the General Manager for Hummer Mr. Martin Walsh, Substantiating the gossip he confirmed the H4 programme. H4 programme would be sloughed below the H3 range, and the vehicle will supposedly make an appearance sometime in the year 2010, the podium for the vehicle is still tentative.
Since the H4 project is under progress and has received a green signal to be put into production lineup, it’s just a matter of time when the baby hummer will make it to the showrooms. The new baby hummer is expected to have all the styling cues of its larger counterparts, plus the option of a slanting rear tailgate like that of the Humvee military vehicle.
The new Hummer will be a two door and four seated small SUV, likely manufactured to dethrone the Wrangler. Its doors, fender flairs and roof will all be detachable, and will have a lower wheel base and height. The vehicle is expected to be previewed as the Hummer HX concept and only few selected dealers were invited to take a glance of the new concept car.
Until now no images or details of the vehicle have been released to the press. The smaller variant is expected to make an easy sale outside US, reaching out to the general masses having a price advantage. As Hummer has received an overwhelming experience outside the US, this smaller version will definitely help in increasing the spell.
