bicycle laser

While the Light Lane let riders create their own bike lane on the road, the Bicycle Laser takes on a bit of a different approach. It has a quartet of adaptable pieces connected together using an auto adhesive tape, with a laser light and a distance sensor. The light creates an ellipse around the bicycle, and treats it as the safety zone. This ellipse is sensitive to anything that may cross its path, so if another vehicle enters the ellipse, the light turns red and the system starts blowing a horn until the encroaching vehicle moves out of the ellipse. The intention of course, is to keep motorists at a safe distance from the bicycle.
