After the Bluetec S-class, now Mercedes Benz wants it’s SUVs to go green and efficient. Usher in the Vision GLK compact SUV Bluetec hybrid which was showcased at the Geneva motor show. This compact SUV, combines the SUVs diesel engine with hybrid technology for a stupendous 40MPG, which translated into litres means that the Bluetec GLK SUV will go almost 17 kilometres per litre of gas, which is absolutely phenomenal for an SUV. The Bluetec monickered Mercedes Benz cars also care for the environment with the GLK Bluetec emitting only 157 grams of CO2 every kilometre making it a segment topper among compact SUV’s as well.
Frugal and efficent doesn’t mean slow, atleast in the Bluetec GLK. The GLK’s four pot diesel mill geneates a powerful 224 horses which when combined with the 560Nm of torque, will give the GLK some real good push, to propel from nought to hundred in 7.2 seconds. The top speed also is a considerable 215 Kmph. The hybrid technology in the Bluetec basically uses an electric motor which sits between the diesel engine and the transmission to save fuel as well as boost power when required. And to take things further, Mercedes Benz have announced that they will launch the Bluetec technology in almost their entire SUV range for the US in the near future. The future looks greener and a lot cleaner.
