Adding flair of hi-tech gadgets into their cars, BMW is all set to fire up its first multi-level connectivity with the iPhone in the future version of the high-end 7 series sedan. Since we all know that BMW were one of the first manufacturers to offer iPod integration via ipod hookup, it’s now time for the Apple iPhone.

The highly anticipated Apple iPhone was launched yesterday. The brawl was on between the automakers for the integrated iPhone, BMW has emerged as the captivating contender. Initially, the German automaker will only offer assimilation for U.S. models, but with international sales of the iPhone a given, BMW is likely to extend the technology across other markets.
According to Edmunds, the option will be available on the 1 Series Coupe which goes on sale in U.S. in the spring of 2008, and will be available in two versions: the 128i and the 135i. Beyond the typical features like Sirius Satellite Radio, HD radio and a Bluetooth interface, an auxiliary input jack is a standard. A USB port for direct control of an Apple iPod or iPhone media player is available as an option.
Last summer when car iPod integration was the next big thing, Apple agreed with Ford, GM and Mazda to see that 70 percent of their 2007 model vehicles offer some type of direct connectivity to iPods. Just for the beginning, iPhone would be imminent with BMW, although who knows the ‘next big thing’ could be rocking every sedan, in times to come.
The 1 Series Coupe is expected to re-create the forte that the iconic 2002 introduced 40 years ago. Adding to the entertainment options, iPhone media player is the biggest and the brightest gemstone in BMW’s crown. Speculations around reveal the integration could cost more than the iPhone itself, but then people who would go for this combo , will seldom ponder over the heavy price tag, because it’s the power of these two brands that speaks .
