BMWs EfficientDyamics concept, unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show may lead to the environmentally friendly M1 supercar by 2012. Rumors of the M1 supercar have been flowing around for a long time, and the reveal of the EfficientDynamics concept has given them a new lease of life. There does appear to be a fair deal of truth, as Auto Express says they have gained some information from an “inside source.”

The M1 supercar may be unveiled in 2012, and will be a low-ride height, 2+2 seating, plus impressive figures for both fuel economy and performance. It is believed that the car will have a three-dimensional head-up display to show speed, speed limits, fuel economy and navigation, there will also be an advanced version of the iDrive cabin control system.

Top speed for the new car will be near 155mph, with the 60mph mark coming in less than five seconds. Power will come from a more developed 1.5-l three cylinder engine from the EfficientDynamics concept, and together with the electric motors, the output will go to 350bhp and 800 Nm of torque.
