BMW drivers in Germany will be able to view current precipitation in any part of the country simply by using the automaker’s new “precipitation radar,” which BMW claims is the first ever from an automaker. The service is offered from BMW’s ConnectedDrive system and gives graphic displays and geographical distribution of rain, hail or snow. The maps are updated every 15 minutes, which is good enough for motorists. But that’s not all, from July this year, the company will offer a “precipitation pattern” service that will allow users to see animated patterns of cloud movement for the past 90 minutes.
