Though hybrids have an edge over diesel cars in US, yet Germany’s renowned carmaker BMW is making plans to sell diesel-powered cars in US as Americans are more open to the fuel now, says BMW sales and marketing head Michael Ganal. If things go smoothly, these cars are expected to storm into the US markets within two years.



Such diesel cars from BMW will also use a urea based additive so that it meets the strict emissions standards, which according to Ganal, would take another two years. Currently available diesel cars in US are:

Diesels are known for giving better mileage and price but remains unpopular among the Americans due to its non-performance. However, a brand as popular as BMW, I believe can afford to take this risk.
