BMW has faced stern denigration in the recent past for not showing interest in the emerging Chinese and Indian markets. This criticism is partly because of the new introductions by rival GM in these markets.

Guess BMW is all set to answer the critics in their own style; unlike GM, which is busy launching small cars one after another in these markets, BMW unveiled a long and low four-door coupe dubbed the CS at the Shanghai Auto Show.

Experts believe it does not look challenging enough to pose any staid threat to its compatriot’s viz. Mercedes-Benz CLS and Aston Martin Rapide but I still believe it has the goods that can deliver as it definitely makes a style statement.

Powered by a V12 engine this four-door luxury Sedan signifies BMW’s interest in increasing its return-on-investment with its 7-series sedans and rumor has it that this concept is a forerunner of the revivification of the 8-Series Moniker.

You may think that the German carmaker has gone nuts unveiling a high-end luxury sedan in China but then the carmaker believes that the enthusiasm for premium sedans is on an increase in this part of the world.

I hope this will put the BMW critics to silence for they unveiled such an important sedan in this part of the world and if any of you reviewers are still not convinced this is what the chairman of BMW’s board of management, Norbert Reithofer had to say:

Our goal is to sell over 150,000 cars in the region by 2008. BMWs 750pc growth in China in the past five years as evidence that the Chinese mainland “is on its way to becoming one of the world’s most important automotive markets.
