We’ve known the Bavarian Motor Works as the worlds leading performance-luxury manufacturer of cars and bikes, a distinction associated with only a few companies over a long span of time and now as per the latest revelation made by the company resources the reputation could just get better with the addition of some unique models.
Unique not in the state-of-art sense but pushed by the stringency of CAFÉ, the company might well develop an all-electric car which would be US specific. The car would be brought into development by 2012 and would run on batteries according to CEO Norbert Reithofer.
BMW has been lauded for its magnificent engines over the past decades and to live up to that repute, the engineers would have to work out of their skins for its not easy to develop an appreciable powertrain running on batteries.
If the news materialises another interesting thing would be the nomenclature part as the company uses various alphabets to define different segments and they don’t just have an alphabet for the electric cars. They already use ‘e’ for eta, ill leave it to you people to decide, lest the plan drops.
