Researches had already shown that women were ‘safer’ drivers than men. However, as far as speeds were concerned, men seemed to have the edge. But a lady from Britain intends to make all land speed records her own—by driving a jet-powered car, that too at 800mph! Now,that is some really serious speed!

The lady in question is Sarah Donohue (35), a former Powerboat champion. Sarah, who took care of the stunts in the Hollywood flick ‘The World is Not Enough’, is among the 25 people shortlisted to drive the 48-foot Fossett Land Speed Racer. She, however, will have to clear some extremely challenging tests to claim the land-speed records (which currently stand at 763 mph, set in 1997 by RAF pilot Andy Green).

The US-built Fossett Land Speed Racer is expected to touch a top-speed of 800mph, enabling one its driver to create a new land speed record. A factor going in Sarah’s favour is the size of the car’s cockpit, which seems to suit a woman.

Sarah has described her attempts to shatter the present land speed records as ‘the ultimate challenge’. The whole world will watch with bated breath to see if Sarah is indeed successful in fulfiling her ambitions to become the fastest land driver.
