If you are one of those passionate car-lovers who seek to drive a powerful, stylish and extremely quick car, there is some great news for you! Bugatti proudly presents Veyron 16.4—one of the quickest cars available, that is sure to scorch the streets with its lightning pace!
The expectations were high from Bugatti about their new car, and the company has certainly been able to match up to the desired high standards, although at a pretty steep price. The high price tag in fact makes one thing pretty clear from the outset: None of the 300 cars that are scheduled to be delivered ( 125 cars have been delivered till date), would generate any additional income to the parent company, Volkswagen.
However, these facts do not deter VW from developing their ambitious plans. Speaking on the issue, Julius Kruta, the media communications manager of Bugatti told Emirates Business:
Even though it is not economically viable for us, we will do it again. we have bigger plans for the future and the next one from our stables will be even more expensive than the Veyron.
Although Dimora, the US luxury car company are in a position to compete with their own Natalia model that would cost a whopping 2 million USD, it is pretty clear from Kruta’s remarks that, VW, even thogh financially hurt by the economic non-viability of Veyron, would certainly not back off.
Qualitatively speaking, the virtues of Veuron are, however, very impressive indeed. The car has an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, and a top speed of 407 km/h. Now that’s some serious speed—a speedy drive in this car is almost akin to flying through the roads! The engine is extremely powerful too, with 4 turbos and 16 cylinders and a power of 1001 ps/736 kW . Speaking about its features, Kruta said:
We were putting the car [Veyron] through a hot test drive session in South Africa when a bird flew right into its path. At the speed of 330km/h it was like a small missile being hurled at the car and it smashed through the six aluminium meshes in front of the radiator and destroyed it.
The proposed new car from Bugatti would be named either Lydia or Royale, as a tribute to the classic example of 1927. This car would be accompanied by a smaller version of the Veyron too—with the latter competing in the Ferrari F430/Lamborghini Gallardo space. A smaller version of the Lydia (or, Royale) would be launched next—to compete with a certain genre of cars, including Audi RS 6, BMW M5,Mercedes Benz E AMG, Cadillac CTS-V, Jaguar XF-R and Porsche Panamera Turbo. Indeed, the propsed new cars better be of outstanding qualities—or else they might run the risk of being lost in the huge crowd of competing vehicles.
