If you think by leaving your car in the garage and taking a bus or train is going to save you more money or get you to your destination faster, then you have to think again. According to the new Department for transport online route-planner, the very car you have relegated to the background can do that work faster.
The British Department was driven to this conclusion after studying details of journey to five destinations from Walsall. The study discovered that by car the route is two hours 20 minutes quicker - and £50 cheaper - than the seven-hour 10-minute journey by bus, train and on foot.
