Chevrolet Beat Concept, which debuted at the New York Auto Show earlier this year, is all set for a production version. GM announced at the LA Auto Show that a new car, based on the Beat Concept will go into global production.
GM reached this decision following an online poll in which nearly 1.8 million voters participated. Results of this poll were overwhelmingly in favor of Chevrolet Beat going into production. Spurred by the poll, GM has decided that the compact Beat with city friendly dimensions will go to production in mid-2009.
Production version Beat will have small dimensions and a smaller displacement engine that makes it good for city traffic while providing desired fuel economy. Initially, the car will be put on sale outside of USA and Canada; mainly targeted at the South Korean consumers, production of the car will be taken up in South Korea.
