It should not come as a surprise to anyone that the world is moving towards a more eco-friendly lifestyle and it is more than welcome. One might in fact say that it is high time we shift the gears and move faster towards a greener future. While bringing back what is lost on the environmental front is almost impossible, it is possible to save what is left; and what is left is indeed the precious little. Electric vehicles are indeed the future of automobile industry which is also becoming cleaner with its exhaust.
Fuel cells are still some way to go for complete usage, so I suppose electric engines are the way to go. It should again surprise none that the Japanese and the Chinese are already taking to the technology change and are making sure that they spread their wings in to the untapped markets of the world. So we have now many Chinese brands making their way in to the US market. It seems that Ann Arbor, MI, which is populated by mostly college students, is now a place for buying these electric scooters.
Let’s just say at the outset that these are designed only for the girls and I almost can’t imagine guys riding these. The Vectrix electric scooter has been available in the market for long, but does not have too many takers as it comes with a price tag of $12,000. Hence the Chinese brands are offering a lot cheaper alternative, even if it is a tad bit less fancy.
The XM-2000 is a scooter with a 2 kW electric motor and 60V worth of batteries. While it’s not quite as stylish a ride as the Vectrix, its $2,000 price is something that fits the budget of most college going students. The 40-45mph top end and 30-mile range is workable for getting around town emissions free. While this is not great news for the home industry, it is indeed sweet news for those who lobby for emission free travel.
