Chinese farmers are apparently preparing for an invasion, they have homemade helicopters, robot armies, and now, even a sub. The small submarine is the creation of 34-year old Tao Xiangli, and it is fully functional. It has a periscope, depth control tanks, manometer and two propellers made from old oil barrels. Oh, and it is “green” because it has electric motors.
It was completed in two years, and cost 30,000 Yuan ($4,385). This one works, and Tao actually demonstrated the capabilities of his submarine at a lake on the outskirts of Beijing. In all fairness, none of our sources says that Tao is a farmer, but going by the things Chinese farmers do, we are inclined to believe he is one. Also, somewhere in a far-flung village, a Chinese farmer may be giving final touches to a spaceship.
