Attendees of the Alicante Antic Order 2008 were treated a rare assortment of the most popular vehicles ever introduced by the best carmakers of the last century. And holding its own in the highly esteemed company of classics like the 1959 Ford Galaxie Skyliner, 1930 Rolls-Royce, 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C Monza 2300, and the Dodge Command Car amongst others, was the quaint little Citroen Dyane 6. Produced by the French carmaker Citroën, 1.4 million Dyanes strutted off the assembly lines from 1967 to 1983. Considered by many to be Citroën’s answer to the Renault 4, the Dyane features the classic hatchback design with conventional round headlamps set into the front wings with a squared enjoliveur and chromed wheel embellishers adding the necessary bling to the super mini. True to the fashion of its time, the Dyane housed a 435 cc air-cooled engine which may not seem like much today, but was considered to be generally suitable to the temperament of the fashionable but laid back 1970’s lifestyle.
