Assystem, that sounds more like some weird contraption that has something to do with your backside than a Car design company. Names apart, this company just showcased their very innovatively designed concept, the City CAR, at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The innovation, or wierdness is not limited to it’s looks, which to us looks like a duck’s head from the front, goes further to the wheels which are placed in a diamond formation as opposed to the regular rectangular formation in a regular car. This, the designers claim, will enhance road holding and stability. To enter the City Car, you open the gullwing doors which give better access than conventional doors. We agree with that. Sitting in the wierd shaped, City car’s front seat, the driver will be confronted by a huge entertainment screen which doubles up as a transparent windshield, or is it the other way round. This Screen, which is connected to four roof mounted cameras also can be used to show impending objects on the road during difficult and night driving conditions. The city car concept can also identify road signs and follow them which sometimes might get tedious when you are in a rush or want to enter an empty one way. But inspite of this, the idea and the intention deserves a huge round of applause. This system is also connected to the Car’s GPS system to aid seamless navigation. And what about his for Futurism, The car can steer on its own by following your eyes, your irises to be precise. That is very futuristic, indeed. Though the rep at the Assystem Stall had some issues even to turn the screen on, let us hope the concept itself sees the light of the day sooner than later.
