Volkswagen has given us iconic cars like the Beetle and the Golf which redefined mobility for the man on the street. Now, in this age of stratospheric oil prices, the boffins at Volkswagen are working away on the L1 concept that will go 100 kilometres for every litre of gasoline. To top it all off, Volkswagen is very keen on the L1 hitting streets as early as 2010. Incredible! But, you cannot have your cake and eat it too. The L1 concept can seat only two adults, one behind the other like a motorcycle and will top out at a maximum speed of 75Mph. On a positive note, this design will make the L1 narrow enough to cut across the narrow city streets with veritable ease. Why wait till 2010 Volkswagen? We say, bring the L1 on right away.
