The Rolls-Royce Phantom has got competion from an unexpected rival, the Rolls-Royce Phantom ‘Gaines Wood’. P&A Wood, a UK Rolls-Royce and Bentley retailer has done slight modification on the Phantom and the modified version is dubbed the ‘Gaines Wood’.
The Phantom Gaines Wood was created in-house for a customer who wanted his RR to be custom made.
The Phantom Gaines Wood sports a softer and traditional-looking face as compared to the hard-edged look of the original. A set of double lamps in place of the stock lights and a replacement of the front bumper are the other modifications that went into the creation of Gaines Wood.
The modification cost is believed to be a whopping £26,000, including those Bentley Continental R headlamps.
The modification job is done very well and the much criticised frontal appearance is transformed into a different odyssey. But to say that the Gaines Wood can compete with the original RR Phantom is too much talking.

It is not so easy to shake the original Phantom. The RR is all about originality and this custom version may appeal to a smaller section of enthusiasts. But the large fan base of the original RR Phantom won’t buy this modification idea.
