When I first saw the images of this car, it looked straight out of Star Wars or some sci-fi flick. I am sure you will agree with me here. The car named as “2+” design car by its designers is specifically made for city people who constantly have to battle with the lack of space and fresh air around them. As the name rightly suggests, the car can carry two passengers with luggage or four passengers comfortably at a time.
The Danish designers Niels Grubak Iversen and Marcus Hannibal Madsen recently graduated with a degree in Industrial Design from Designskolen Kolding. They have put up their innovative design as an entry in Michelin Challenge 2008. The entry has been getting a lot of visibility and interest because of its outstanding design and proposed qualities. The car is seen as an invention that would enable the urban population to tackle with the pollution problem.
It is powered by a Lithium-Ion battery package that makes the car run for approx 200 miles. After this distance, the batteries can be easily recharged within 15 minutes. Also, the compact design enables easy parking even in the tiniest of the places, which is further enhanced by Electric powered wheel engines. These engines are placed outside the body and enable it to turn at 90 degrees that means one can actually drive the car sideways. Isn’t that cool?
I find this information very interesting and actually can’t resist getting my hands behind the wheels of one such car. And to top it all, the car has highly flexible interior, customizable interactive dashboard which has a touch screen. The interiors of the car are made of teak to give it a homely atmosphere. Now that’s how one defines having a real hi-tech product with the much-needed comfort. Iversen and Madsen surely could not have done better.
