While the world waits for flying cars amid claims that they are just about ready to zoom, Pentagon decided to jump on the bandwagon with their very own flying car for the military. According to Darpa, the flying car will move on land, at a max speed of 60mph, and once in air, the speed would go up to 150mph with a 2-hour flight time. Envisioned as two or four seat vehicles, these cars may be used for evacuation and delivery missions.

Darpa says the flying cars are likely to get morphing wings, optimized disk loading propulsion (whatever that means), and obviously, a strong flight control software. We want flying cars, and this one doesn’t quite look like a huge military experiment, though we’re sure they could find ways to do that. Also, flying trikes are no consolation.
