A while back, we heard speculations on an upcoming environment friendly supercar from BMW. The speculation has now gained some ground, after new details about the car came out. The automaker is apparently developing a BMW Z10 ED, where ED means “Efficient Dynamics.”

The two-seat car will be light, with weight not exceeding 1400kg, partially due to the use of integrated door frames and sill panels. Power will come from a high-pressure turbocharged direct-injection straight six that is expected to deliver about 400 bhp, using either conventional mechanical valves, or being electronically operated. Combined with other technologies, the car could prove to be almost 15% more efficient than its counterparts. There are chances of the inclusion of a lithium ion battery to store energy gained from regenerative braking.
