Diesel powered cars have returned to California with the launch of Mercedes E320 Bluetec. The car is not on sale though; it is available for lease for 2 years/24,000 miles at a cost of $600 a month.
The E320 Bluetec is powered by a V6 but maintains a high efficiency of 30mpg, which means the car can cover more than 700miles on the highway with a single tank of fuel.
Seven other states, namely New York, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Pennsylvania will also get this vehicle for lease starting this January.
Other Bluetec models like 2008 M and R-Class Crossovers as well as the GL-class may also make a foray into these markets.
