
Journey is all set for making an appearance next month at The Frankfurt Auto Show. For most of the year the vehicle made its mystifying appearances through its spy shots but now it’s ready to rock the global MPV market. Journey is the newest of all midsize crossovers from the new Chrysler.
The new crossover will make its journey to the dealerships at US in the first quarter of 2008, and from there it will make it to the European and Asian markets with assigned versions later in the year. It was originally known as the ‘Crew’ by the insiders at the Chrysler.
Journey is based on the Dodge Avenger chassis, although they are lengthened by 4.9inches. The four door crossover variant will be coming with a sitting capacity for five or five + two passengers. It will have two buckets, three seat second row bench which splits to fold and also can tilt backwards. It has an optional third row which increases its sitting capacity to seven.
Its available engines include a 2.4-liter four cylinder with 173 hp and 166 lb- ft of torque, a 186 hp flexible fuel 2.7- liter V6 that runs with e-85 fuel delivering 191 lb-ft torque, also a 3.5-liter V6 coupled with a six speed automatic transmission delivering 235 hp with 232 lb-ft of torque and a diesel variant 2.0-liter delivering 140 hp with a six speed automatic transmission to deliver a 229 lb-ft of torque.
Journey’s diesel variant will be available outside North America and a 3.5-liter petrol version is made exclusively for the North American and Canadian market.
Taking a peek on its safety features it has just standard equipment from all of its other models envisaging four wheel discs, anti lock braking, traction control, stability control, brake assist and Electronic Roll Mitigation with multi-stage front driver and passenger air bags, front seat side air bags, three row side curtain air bags.
The Journey is expected to give a competition to Ford’s crossover Edge, and some other MUV’s in that range whilst the company still keeps the curtains over its pricing. It will be given a home like appealing with every minute technological attribute.
