The device scans the road with radar or lasers maintaining gap between cars as controlled by the driver thereby averting accidents by 75 percent in heavy traffic. If even collision should occur, its Pre-Safe system cinch seatbelts, shift the front seat into optimal crash position, and close the windows and sunroof automatically.

The Acura RL’s adaptive cruise control flashes BRAKE warning to alert the driver when a car comes too close.

Some Infiniti models read lane markers and chirp a warning when a driver crosses the line without signaling through their optional camera.

The Audi Q7 SUV keeps an eye on its blind spots, alerting drivers if a car is lurking nearby.

The upcoming Lexus LS 460 sedan (due this fall) will parallel park by itself, with only a bit of brake assistance from its pilot.
