Cars have been the reason for today’s urban pollution levels and people continue to use private transportation not because they like it, but maybe due to lack of an efficient public transportation system. Pollution and smog levels can be reduced drastically if people opted for public transportation. With this in mind, Amanda Tarbox has designed a concept public transportation system, which is intended to bridge the gap between existing transport systems and to cover their shortfalls. The concept runs on DC batteries and is compact and well suited for intra city transportation. This electric vehicle also comes with radar sensors, a GPS receiver, a digital map software, and card access systems. An advertising space can be provided as well to generate revenue. The concept is disabled-friendly and provides space for wheelchairs and prams. A concept like this, if materialized, can help to solve a number of traffic woes that we city slickers have to face everyday.

Initially expensive but beneficial over the long haul.
I agree it would be beneficial in the long run.. And it would be cheaper than building expensive tubes...
